I shall be quick with the relevant points, because why bother with anything else! Keep a small wax candle lit under that french fries pot (quite a low flame thus), so that they remain warm and toasty instead of cold and saggy (flaccid would have been more befitting a term but out of respect, decided to opt saggy). Also that chicken piece you give drenched in dry yet wet enough gravy, is not finger food / appetiser. You may very well include that as a side dish in your main course, for it does leave your fingers dirty, just as any other main course item. Instead, give three spring rolls and some warm fries; appetiser done! It isn't all that complicated, y'see! The cake and wine was a disaster. Of the two, wine was somewhat passable and better. They really need to let go of stuff they cannot handle; rather that than humiliate the legacy of those items! The first main course was kallappam, porotta; and what curry that was, I don't know, for all I got were bones and gravy. I want to say naadan chicken but the flesh colour suggests it was more duck-y, the most anorexic of all poultry fowl mankind decided to eat when such perfectly chonky-fluffy gundumani broiler chicken kings and queens were pecking about! Gravy was awesome; coconut one - varutharachath! And the fish fry in gravy wrapped in banana leaf was always out of stock; i think i got mine one piece in my fourth inquiry. Yay! Good show that was; that walking back and forth truly worked up my appetite, only to be spectacularly let down even more by the next item! The pulav was bland; perhaps unsalted, God knows! The malai chicken was yet again, bland as can be! I don't like to discard food in rubbish bin and I don't think I have ever done so but yay, i did that for the first time in my 39-year old life with this team, when I attended the betrothal of my cousin's daughter at Alfa Horizon, Vallarpadam. Next came the final item, rice and dishes, the only saving grace! This was decent! There was a pasta stand but the colour suggested they were the Indiyaaann masala kind, not the proper Eyetalian kind, so didn't bother. I guess, there was a salad stand next to it and spread out elsewhere too. Desserts were too small and too many, and the only good one of them, and that alone speaks volumes, ghulab jamun was kept way up high and beyond easy reach. And even then, they weren't soaked in that syrup, so the top half was hard and the bottom half in syrup was good. Good contrast that, sort of a ying and yang chaos that is life and all that! Give forks for cakes, not spoons! Whoever taught desserts are to be eaten with spoons was surely tripping out of their behind! Fork is what you use for cakes and such; spoon is for ice-cream and such other near-liquid desserts! Good grief! They should stick with rice and curries, and ice cream and ghulab jamun (properly soaked in syrup, that is). Sticking to what one knows best is always better! Chicken soup was nice too, except the onion slices were sliced too thin that the finer strands almost felt as if they were stranded hair but upon close inspection, saw that they were strands of onion itself; but not everybody would be as patient as me. I would recommend them just for their rice and curries, and ice cream; but then again, there are even better and more financially feasible options out there, eh?! The plethora of good reviews praising them to kingdom come, seems to be all from folks who have been either paid to do so or as is almost always the case in reality, from those who haven't had any good food to date that they don't know any better!
